Our client Doughty Street Chambers is a buoyant and cutting-edge set, renowned for and committed to defending freedom and civil liberties, and has a truly national and international profile across its wide range of practice in criminal law, civil law, administrative and public law, international law and human rights. With almost 130 barristers, including 33 silks, plus associate tenants and an academic panel from around the world, with offices in Manchester and Bristol as well as London, and with an office in The Hague about to be opened, they are probably the largest and most wide-ranging civil liberties practice in the World.
The Crime Team is the largest practice team in Chambers, comprising about 50 practitioners, including 16 Queen’s Counsel, with specialist expertise in the most serious and complex criminal trials and appeals, extradition and international criminal law.
After another record year for Chambers and having reviewed their business development and clerking services, they are expanding both the criminal and civil clerking teams. In criminal clerking, there will be two clerking teams, working under the newly appointed Business Development Director (Crime), with each team consisting of a Team Leader, an Assistant Team Leader, a Team Deputy and a Team Junior.
