BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Full Members
It should be pointed out that LPMA events and updates have become more Bar-focussed of late (our membership is about 80% chambers) although the main issues affect the entire legal profession (Legal Services Act, Alternative Business Structures etc) so we do encourage practice managers in law firms to join and attend.
Our Co-Chairs, Christine Kings and Edith Robertson, have excellent relationships with key members of the Bar Council and Bar Standards Board, and the LPMA is represented on many of their working parties. We are often asked to respond to consultation documents and our input is valued.
Benefits
- Short but focussed events (usually 1 – 1.5 hours) keeping members up to date with relevant issues. Recent events have included briefings by the Chairman of the Bar, the Director of the Bar Standards Board and the Head of the Pupillage Review Committee; forthcoming events include Debt Collection and Equality & Diversity in the Judicial and QC Application Processes.
- Regular updates by email.
- Great support from like-minded people.
- A friendly and open organisation; great business and social networking.
- Free attendance at most LPMA business events, ie lunchtime or evening briefings (special events and conferences may incur a small charge).
Associate Members
Associate membership is aimed primarily at people who are seeking a practice management role within the legal profession). It is also open to niche organisations who feel their services may be of interest to practice managers, and although our policy is not to advertise the services of others, the marketing opportunities arise through networking at events.
Benefits
- Opportunities to meet experienced practice managers, get a feel for the working environment and what the job entails, and provide an insight into issues facing the legal profession, particularly chambers.
- Business and social networking.
- Occasional notification of vacancies within the profession.
